Yadkin Valley Craft Guild
The Yadkin Valley Craft Guild promotes production of original fine contemporary and heritage craft. Artist members from all over the Yadkin Valley are working in clay, glass, metal, fiber, jewelry, wood, photography, leather, print making, paper and mixed media. Visit their gallery shops located in Historic Downtown Elkin and in Historic Rockford.
Blackmon Amphitheatre
The Blackmon Amphitheatre is your destination for the best in outdoor music events! Located in downtown Mount Airy across from the Andy Griffith Playhouse, this venue offers great events from early spring through late fall.
Blue Ridge Music Center
Located along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Blue Ridge Music Center celebrates the music and musicians of the Blue Ridge. Established by the U.S. Congress in 1985, the site includes an outdoor amphitheater and indoor interpretive center used to highlight an important strand of American musical culture, which is still alive and thriving in the region. The site is operated through a partnership between the National Park Service and the National Council for the Traditional Arts.
Old-Time Music Heritage Hall
Located adjacent to the Andy Griffith Playhouse, the Hall hosts old-time bands and dances open to the public.
Surry Arts Council
The council sponsors many theatrical events at the Andy Griffith Playhouse which showcase the areas performing and visual arts through a variety of programs.
The Merry-Go-Round
Free to the public, this jam session and live radio broadcast features old-time, bluegrass, gospel, and other regional country musicians playing in the vintage 1930's Downtown Cinema Theater in Historic Downtown Mount Airy every Saturday morning. The Merry-Go-Round is the third oldest live radio broadcast in the United States.
Thursday Night Jam Sessions
Held at the Andy Griffith Playhouse every Thursday evening, folks come to play, to sing, to dance, and to listen to the music that binds them: old-time, bluegrass, country, blues, gospel, and folk.
