You will find this a challenging experience with the course's hilly terrain and increased difficulty as you approach the greens. The course's greatest feature is the fact that iconic Pilot Mountain is the backdrop on 13 of the 18 holes. Following your round of golf enjoy a meal at the 19th Hole Grill in the clubhouse.
This 20th Century Living Historical Farm located in Shoals is open to the public Tues-Sat. Annual events include the Cornshucking Frolic in Oct. and Christmas by Lamplight in Dec. Other annual events focus on the lifestyles of folks who lived on a rural farm in the 20th century including sheepshearing, baking, and plowing with animals. Ice cream socials, music, and children games are also enjoyed. Home to the Southern Heritage Apple Orchard, it is unique to its kind in the United States.

This farm is located near Pilot Mountain State Park. Enjoy horseback riding, including a lesson, and a two-hour trail ride, with a trail guide along the Sauratown Trail or within Pilot Mountain State Park.
Located outside Pilot Mountain, the Hacker House Trail is sure to please those who are brave enough to enter. The trail is open during October.
Pilot Mountain State Park is a remnant of the ancient Saura Mountains once known as "Jomeokee" great guide or "Pilot" by the Saura Indians. Dedicated as a National Natural Landmark in 1976, this solitary peak rises more than 2,400 ft. Enjoy a horseback ride or challenge the river from raft or canoe. A seven-mile woodland corridor joins two sections of the park. The mountain segment includes two pinnacles and visitor facilities. The primitive river section centers on the meandering Yadkin River.
Rock climbing and rappelling are favorite activities at Pilot Mountain State Park where rocky cliffs offer a challenge to experienced climbers. Climbing is permitted only in designated areas.
The Sauratown Trail is a trail corridor that connects Pilot Mountain State Park on the west side and Hanging Rock State Park on the east side. The trail is approximately 35 miles long. The Sauratown Trails are open most of the year to all horseback riders and hikers. You don't have to be a STA member to use the trails. For your safety, the trails are closed only during deer hunting season (mid-November to mid-December).
