Surry has offered anglers a major trout fishing destination on the Mitchell River for many years. Delayed Harvest trout streams can only be found in a handful of locations across North Carolina. During the cooler months of the year, the State’s wildlife resources commission stocks the river with trout with the understanding that anglers will observe their “catch and release” system.
Coming this fall, Surry will offer two Delayed Harvest trout streams. In addition to the Mitchell River, the Ararat River around Mount Airy will become a part of this program and will begin attracting even more anglers to Surry.
