On Saturday, October 1st, the 32nd Annual Sonker Festival will take place at what is undoubtedly Surry’s foremost historic home, the Edwards-Franklin House. The event pays homage to its namesake, a unique delicacy commonly described as the deep dish pie. Sonker is unique to North Carolina and is commonly associated with cobbler.
Admission is free to the festival with nominal charges for the serving of sonker and beverages. Sonker varieties will include apple, blackberry, blueberry, cherry, peach, strawberry, and sweet potato. In addition, you will find local musicians performing “old-time” music as well as various craft exhibits.
The Sonker Festival begins at 1pm and ends at 5pm. For more information call 336.789.4304 or click here.

I would like to see a list of the musicians who will be playing at the festival.
Thank you for the request; we have asked the organizers to forward us this list. Once we have it we will post it here.
