DO-IT-YOURSELF-ITINERARY
Begin Day 1 of your adventure with a morning round of golf at Cedarbrook Country Club in Elkin. The course layout was designed by noted course architect Ellis Maples, who was a disciple of Donald Ross. Ross' influence on Maples is evident here with several greens which are elevated often sloping from back to front. During your round enjoy lunch in the clubhouse bar or dining room.

In the afternoon, there are a number of local wineries in Elkin from which to choose, each with its own distinct personality. Whether it's Brushy Mountain Winery located in downtown Elkin, Grassy Creek Vineyards and Winery located on a former dairy farm, or Carolina Heritage Vineyards, N.C.'s only certified organic vineyard and solar powered winery, you're sure to find one that appeals to you.

Following your afternoon wine tastings, there are several hotel options to choose from, as well as cabins and B&Bs. Visit www.VerySurry.com and go to Lodging for a complete list of accommodations. Anywhere you choose to stay will be ideal, as your golf adventure will take you all over Surry!

Once you've settled in, head back to downtown Elkin for some fine dining at Twenty One & Main Restaurant and Bar.

On Day 2, tee off at Pilot Knob Park in Pilot Mountain. You will find this a challenging experience with the course's hilly terrain and increased difficulty as you approach the greens. The course's greatest feature is the fact that iconic Pilot Mountain is the backdrop on 13 of the 18 holes. Pilot Mountain is recognized as North Carolina's most distinctive natural landmark and is a state park. Following your round of golf enjoy a hamburger or hot dog at the 19th Hole Grill in the clubhouse.

After some rest and relaxation, head over to nearby Dobson and visit local wineries such as Hutton, Olde Mill, and Stony Knoll. Conclude your day at North Carolina's largest estate vineyard and winery, Shelton Vineyards. Following your tour and visit to the tasting room, have dinner on the grounds at the Harvest Grill.

Start Day 3 in Mount Airy (a.k.a. Mayberry) at Cross Creek Country Club. Recognized as one of North Carolina's top 100 golf courses, the backdrop to this course is the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains. Cross Creek is best known for its demanding finishing holes which will test your decision making and skill. Following your round, relax in the club's full service bar and dining room.

Finish your day in downtown Mount Airy stopping by Old North State Winery and Brewery, one of the largest wineries in the Yadkin Valley. You'll discover some of the most distinctive wine labels around during your visit to this renovated 1890's mercantile building. For dinner, your destination should be Trio Restaurant and Bar in the Main-Oak Building, located just around the corner.
