Start your day by taking a lesson on the art of fly-fishing from a knowledgeable guide. Sign up for a guided catch and release fly fishing tour on the Dan River or cast your line in one of many fully stocked trout and largemouth bass ponds on the property.

For hunting enthusiasts, take a half-day wingshooting hunt (September through April), with a resort gun-dog, hunt within your own assigned area during deer season  (November and early December), or take down a wild turkey on a guided gobbler hunt (April through mid-May). Or, try out the mile-long Sporting Clays course all year round.

In the afternoon, take in the scenic beauty of the Meadows of Dan and Dove Mountain by foot, horseback, ATV or mountain bike on miles of trails. Or, if golf is more your speed, sign up for a tee time and play the challenging and scenic holes at the world famous Highland Course at Primland.

Spend the night in one of the lodge's luxurious suites, cottages or mountain homes.

To start the morning of Day 2, head down to scenic Surry's Westfield and take a thrilling ride through the treetops at Carolina Ziplines Canopy Tour on one or both of their breath-taking courses 50 feet above the forest floor..

After your journey through the trees, take a trip to Pilot Mountain State Park for a picnic lunch and then some hiking along the Sauratown Trails. Take in stunning views of Surry from the pinnacle of Pilot Mountain or bring your binoculars and search for feathered quarry on one of the N.C. Birding Trails.

There are several campgrounds and cabins close by to choose from, as well as your more traditional hotels and B&Bs. Visit verysurry.com and go to Lodging for a complete list of accommodations.
